Until 2018 Stan had no formal art training and was self-taught. He started attending Life Drawing classes in 1969 and has continued to do so throughout. He developed a particular passion in rehearsal/performance drawings in the field of Dance, Drama, Music and Burlesque, both here in the UK and abroad. He has travelled to Tokyo to draw Sumo Wrestlers and more recently went to Havana, Cuba after being invited to attend rehearsals of the Danza Contemporanea de Cuba to draw the dancers.
Stan has exhibited throughout Lancashire and the North West. He is a long-standing member of the Clark Holme Artists Studios in Rossendale, Lancs. He still attends Life Drawing classes in Manchester and other venues in the North West and continues to develop his love of capturing movement in the human figure.
Stan is currently studying at Manchester Metropolitan University for a degree in Fine Art as a “very mature” student. This inspired him to experiment more with different mediums. He is also currently rediscovering his love of landscape painting following trips to India and capturing local scenes in the Rossendale Valley and also around the British Isles.
