Hello and welcome to my page; my name is Beverley and I am based in Ramsbottom. I have been dabbling with silver for about 5 years. I work with Argentium and sterling silver in my small workshop in the garden. I make handcrafted silver jewellery using the traditional methods of sawing/piercing, texturing, embellishing and polishing to a high shine finish. I like to work mainly with Argentium because it is slightly purer than sterling silver, and is more tarnish resistant. items requiring hallmarking are sent to the assay office in Edinburgh. Sustainability is important to me, Argentium is made from ethically sourced silver , so another plus point for working with it. My packaging is in Linen bags and recycled cardboard boxes.
I also enjoy working with fused glass. Using sheet glass, powders and frit. Cutting , shaping , firing , slumping . Firing glass in a kiln up to about 800 degrees centigrade. A piece can sometimes be fired numerous times to create the finished product. I particularly like creating vases and vessels.
