After doing a Degree in Fine Art, I went on to do Art Therapy and have worked in Psychiatric Units as an Art Therapist, as well as making things for Horse and Bamboo Theatre. I’ve always liked clay, and recently had the chance to undertake the Ceramics MA at UCLAN, which has boosted me creatively.
I now make animal sculptures. I like the idea of using the territorial postures animals take up to give a sense to guardianship, which can also mark out our own spaces. Most of my work is sagger-fired, which utilises naturally occurring materials to colour surfaces, rather than the shiny glazes we are more used to in ceramics.
I create sculptures at home, and have been saggar-firing at UCLAN CeramicsLab.
